What is the connection method of wafer butterfly valve?


The connection method of the wafer butterfly valve is mainly to connect the two ends of the valve directly to the pipe flange through bolts.

Specifically, the connection methods of wafer butterfly valves can be divided into the following two types:

Bolted. Use bolts to connect both ends of the valve to the pipe flange. This connection method is suitable for small and medium-sized clamp-on butterfly valves and can ensure the firmness and sealing of the connection.


Welding flange piece. Weld the flange pieces on both sides of the pipe, and then tighten the two sides of the pipe with bolts and nuts so that the flanges on both sides press the butterfly valve to achieve the purpose of installation.


It should be noted that the specific connection method of the wafer butterfly valve may differ according to the model and specification of the valve. Therefore, during installation, the appropriate connection method should be selected according to the specific situation and operated in accordance with the operation manual or relevant standards.


What is the difference between wafer butterfly valve and flange butterfly valve?


The installation methods are different. The wafer butterfly valve is extruded through the pipe flange and connected using stud bolts without the need for additional bolts and nuts. The flange butterfly valve uses flange connection, usually through bolts to connect the valve body flange and the pipe flange.

 

The structure is different. The wafer butterfly valve itself has no flange and is suitable for general medium, low pressure and small diameter pipeline systems. The flange butterfly valve body has flanges at both ends, and its sealing performance is relatively better than that of the wafer butterfly valve.

 

The applicable scenarios are different. Wafer butterfly valves are generally not suitable for situations where disassembly is required at the end of the pipeline and downstream. The flange butterfly valve does not have such a problem, because the flange itself has a flange. When paired with the flange on the pipe, it is connected with bolts and locked with nuts. Therefore, even if one end is disassembled, it will not affect the operation of the other end.

 

Weights vary. Wafer butterfly valve has simple structure, small size and light weight. Due to the use of bolted connections, flange butterfly valves are relatively cumbersome to install and maintain, requiring additional bolts and nuts, so they are relatively heavier than wafer butterfly valves.
