1.What is the difference between lug butterfly valve and wafer butterfly valve?

Common wafer butterfly valves have four bolt holes. When installing this butterfly valve, you only need to use long bolts to connect the flange holes on the pipe with the bolt holes of the wafer butterfly valve. Installation and disassembly are very easy and convenient, but The disadvantage is poor stability. Lug-type butterfly valves usually have 8 holes for bolting to the pipe flange , each of its pressure holes has threads, and when connected to the flange on the pipe, the bolts pass through the flange pieces at both ends to connect the pipes. The advantage of this design is that the piping system on one side can be disconnected without disturbing the other side, making later maintenance easier.

2.What are the advantages and disadvantages of lug butterfly valves?

Advantages:

Lug butterfly valves have independent flange connections,When installing with pipes, the flanges on both sides are installed with bolts respectively. This can prevent the valve body and the valve body sealing surface from being squeezed by the bolts, which is beneficial to the sealing life. This design is convenient for later use, For repairs and disassembly, disconnect one side of the piping system without disturbing the other side, eliminating the need to disassemble the entire piping system.

Disadvantages:

The increased weight and size of lug-style butterfly valves compared to wafer-style butterfly valves may present installation challenges with space or weight constraints. Additionally, lug-style butterfly valves are typically more expensive than wafer-style butterfly valves because their complex lug design and required materials increase the cost. Although lug-style butterfly valves provide improved sealing performance, they may not be suitable for certain high pressure or extreme temperature applications.
